Seen from atop the hillside, the small community of Whangara on the East Cape on the North Island of New Zealand, sits along the scenic coastline of the Pacific Ocean. A village once unknown, was used as a location in the movie the Whale Rider, opening the eyes of many people to the beauty of the area.
