A mist hangs over the surface of the Tasman Sea at Piha Beach near Auckland on the North Island of New Zealand but that does not stop people from enjoying a summer day at the beach. Piha Beach is an excellent place where surfers, beach lovers and swimmers come to spend the day/weekend and explore the tidal pools at low tide. The patrolled swimming areas are clearly marked as the rips and currents outside of these areas can easily show their power and quickly create a disaster.

The massive cliffs border Piha Beach and Lion's Rock stands watch over the black iron-sand beach. Piha Beach is a short 45 minute drive from Auckland, New Zealand and is one of New Zealand's most well known surf beach.
