The Agrodome in Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand is home to a sheep show which takes place 3 times a day all year and this wool carding machine is needed on site. Carding is a process which brushes and rolls unordered fibers and vegetable contamination from the wool in preparation for standard quality fabrics.
Carding fibers can be done in two ways, one by a machine such as the one shown in this picture at the Agrodome or by hand. Fibers are fed into the machine onto the large rollers where it goes through many drums and comes out a flat, orderly mass of fibers. The more drums the wool goes through while carding, the thinner it becomes until it is the appropriate thickness required.
