While aboard a boat tour to the active volcano of White Island in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, the scenery shows how the outskirts of the island are blanketed in greenery. The rest of White Island is made up of sulphur deposits, minerals, craters and fumaroles creating the ideal type of volcanic landscape to explore.
In the back drop, steam rises from Crater Lake, the largest crater on White Island which is now the most acidic lake in the world. This crater was formed after various eruptions, with three major ones taking place in 1886, 1914 and 1953.
A luxury tour boat takes passengers as close as they can get to White Island where they can enjoy the scenery from afar. The boat then anchors in a bay where passengers are transferred to an inflatable boat to journey by foot on White Island.
