As the tree ferns flourish in the Waipoua Forest in Northland, New Zealand, the sunlight breaks through the mass of branches highlighting the fronds as clouds slowly drift by. Throughout the forest, the tree ferns are stunning being one of the most prominent type of growth in the Waipoua Forest along with the giant Kauri trees.
Tree ferns are native to New Zealand and grow well in the temperate rainforests of Australia and New Zealand as well in tropical and subtropical regions. The fronds are very large and multiple-pinnate when mature but they start out as young leaflets which unfold from coils and uncurl as they age.
There is close to a thousand different species of tree ferns and while wandering through the Waipoua Forest in Northland, New Zealand, visitors are amazed at the beauty of them.
