The Waipoua Forest in New Zealand makes up the largest remaining area of natural native forest throughout Northland which has been protected for many years. Looking up from the base of this large Kauri tree, the branches extend outwards amongst the other trees allowing a partial clearing for the sun to filter through highlighting this wilderness forest.
A scenic drive will wind its way around these magnificent Kauri trees as well as rimu, taraire, kohekohe, towai and northern rata trees. Walking trails, such as the Bush Walk will take visitors to the large Kauri trees like the Tane Mahuta, Te Matua Ngahere, the Four Sisters and the Yakas.
