Tree Ferns Picture Mount Egmont National Park
Photo & Vacation Spot

Tree Ferns grow around the Redwood trees in the wilderness of an area called Lucy's Gully in Mount Egmont National Park in New Zealand.

Tree ferns are a picture of beauty as they grow amongst the tall Redwood trees in a place called Lucy's Gully in Egmont National Park on the North Island of New Zealand. These tree ferns are native to New Zealand and are found in wilderness places beneath taller trees in damp shaded areas.

The soil needs to well drained but very rich and fertile, usually made up of clay and sand which has been mixed with fallen leaves and other plant material. Lucy's Gully is the ideal location for the tree ferns as the Waimoku stream flows through Mount Egmont National Forest. Tourists can enjoy a picnic lunch here while the beauty of the forest acts as an umbrella.
