Atop the thick stems on the Torch Lily - Primrose Beauty growing along the Catlins Highway on the Southern Scenic Route in Southland, NZ, are the decorative, bright yellow clustered flower heads. The flower heads are a mass of tube shaped blossoms sitting at a height of between 2 and 3 feet, possibly 5 feet when fully grown.
These flower heads appear to be at their fullest in the last half of the summer when they thrive in the direct sunlight. The flower heads can easily be snapped off when the winds pick up in the area as they are very top heavy when all of the flowers are in blossom.
The Torch Lily - Primrose Beauty is a very pretty flower which is also often seen in red or orange hues.
