A thin mist hangs over the water off the North Island of New Zealand leaving the scenery in the backdrop unclear while in the foreground the beauty of Te Werahi Beach at Cape Reinga in Northland, New Zealand comes into view. The hills are blanketed in greenery down to their base where the waves break and lap up onto the sandy beach.
Visitors to Cape Reinga can follow a track which winds around the rocky cliffs to Te Werahi Beach where 3 kilometers of sandy beach are situated. The walk along the entire beach takes about one hour and when the tide is at its lowest, the walk can be continued around the point.
Along the track, peach colored sand dunes, dune grasses and beautiful scenery highlighting Te Werahi Beach, Cape Maria Van Diemen and Motuopao Island are found.
