During the summer months, the sun can appear as if it is stationed over the historic Stone Store building located in the town of Kerikeri in Northland on the North Island of New Zealand. The architecture on this building glistens in the sun creating the perfect setting for summer tourists who come to see one of the most photographed stone buildings throughout New Zealand.
The Kerikeri River flows alongside the Stone Store where construction on this building began in 1832 taking nearly 4 years to complete. The building was used a storehouse for the mission until 1848, bought out by the Kemp family which they leased to store keepers up until 1976. The New Zealand Historic Places Trust took over ownership of the Stone Store and made the necessary repairs needed and in 1998, it was opened to the public.
Being the oldest stone building throughout New Zealand, many tourists during the summer months come to the Stone Store to see and learn of its history.
