Overlooking Lake Pukaki in Canterbury on the South Island of NZ, it is hard to dismiss the beautiful scenery of the snow capped peaks of Mt. Cook decorating the backdrop. Mt. Cook towers over Lake Pukaki to a height of 3,764 meters making this the highest mountain throughout NZ.
Mt. Cook lies in the Southern Alps, a mountain range which runs the length of the South Island with the longest glaciers, three summits and the snow capped peaks making this a challenging climb for mountain climbers. Lake Pukaki has a variety of different areas where visitors can enjoy the picturesque scenery of the lake and the beauty of Mt. Cook.
