The coastal shores of Cape Reinga where the Cape Reinga Lighthouse watches over the waters of the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean in Northland, New Zealand, is very romantic and scenic at sunset. These sunset hues alter the sky into soft shades of pink while the clouds move in taking on a dark purplish hue.
The Cape Reinga Lighthouse has stood on these cliffs since 1941 when it was operated by a lighthouse keeper, but like many other lighthouses around the world, it has now been automated. Summer visitors to Cape Reinga can explore the region, watch the scenery change as sunset nears and learn of the significance this area meant to the Maori people who resided on the North Island of New Zealand.
