Visitors to Fiordland National Park in Southland, NZ can follow the track to Lake Marian which meanders through the rich and unique rainforest vegetation of the park. The track is about 2 to 3 hours return trip where hikers will wander amongst the rainforest wilderness, cross over the Hollyford River by swing bridge and pass some stunning waterfalls until the beauty of Lake Marian appears.
The lake sits in a hanging valley which was created years ago by the glacial movement and is one of the prettiest places to explore in Fiordland National Park. Surrounded by the Darran Mountains, Lake Marian is fed and drained by Marian Creek, all which is surrounded by this NZ rainforest vegetation.
Fiordland National Park is home to over 500 kilometers of hiking trails, some are day trips while others could be anywhere from a few days or weeks depending on the route chosen.
