A thin veil of sea spray lies over the waters of the Tasman Sea along Piha Beach near Auckland, New Zealand where two people scope out the scene for a day of surf board riding. Piha Beach is one of the most popular surfing beaches in New Zealand, but for safety reasons people must stay within the boundaries the beach is also known for it's strong rips and currents.
The beach is blanketed with black iron-sand with rugged cliffs that rise above the dramatic coast. Residents who reside at Piha Beach are usually beach lovers who enjoy the simple ways of life, but many people travel the short 40 kilometers distance from Auckland for a one on one day with the Tasman Sea.
