Visitors rest on the outside terrace at a cafe, while others window shop along the street in the town of Paihia in the Bay of Islands in Northland, New Zealand. Paihia is a popular town in the Bay of Islands where visitors find an assortment of restaurants, cafes, accommodations and an interesting mix of shops.
On the corner of the street, a vibrant colored sign highlights an information center which allows tourists to map out their vacation with a list of some of the best attractions while visiting the Bay of Islands. The town of Paihia was once very small with only a handful of houses and a church, but after 1920, permanent residents started moving in, many being the start of local businesses which put this town on the map.
