A historic building dating back to 1906, now houses the Opera House located on Thames Street in Oamaru, Otago on the South Island of New Zealand. Officially opened in 1907, the architecture is an Edwardian Baroque style which was designed by a man named John Megget Forrester.
The architecture of the Opera House was once a common design used around New Zealand especially on civic and government buildings but this style faded out around 1914. The staircase leads up to a beautiful wooden door where one enters this architectural masterpiece which has had a vast amount of renovations in recent years to bring the building up to proper specifications.
Once used for a variety of organizations such as council groups, political groups and as law offices, the historic building is now home to the Opera House where the public can watch theatre shows or movies.
