From the Northern Taranaki Bight on the West Coast of the North Island of NZ, Mt. Taranaki/Mt. Egmont looks stunning in the yellow lighting at sunset. The peak of the volcano is still scattered with snow as the remaining light at sunset glistens off its peak.
This volcano is the second highest peak on the North Island of NZ, standing at a height of 2,518 meters, all which is surrounded by 335 square miles of land belonging to Egmont National Park. Statistics say that Mt. Egmont/Mt. Taranaki has displayed minor eruptions approximately every 90 years and major ones about every 500 years over a period of about 9,000 years.
Photographers may spend night after night on these cliffs at the Northern Taranaki Bight while visiting the West Coast to capture a variety of pictures as the sunset highlights the volcano and spans the sky in various hues.
