An amusing sight during a visit in the Catlins is the Niagara Falls of New Zealand - named by a surveyor with a sense of humour.

Hunting down the Niagara Falls of New Zealand is a difficult task as you tend to drive straight past. Having been to the Niagara Falls in Canada, we had expectations, so the joke was on us for sure! New Zealand's version of the Niagara Falls, set in the Catlins, fall less than a metre.
