From the coastal shores of Muriwai Beach near Auckland, New Zealand, a beautiful sunset highlights the sky over the Tasman Sea with the sun showing off its beauty in a large, yellow/whitish ball shape across the horizon. The lighting from the sun spans across the surface of the water and highlights a few Australasian Gannets soaring above their nesting grounds at Muriwai Beach.
Muriwai Beach is located on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand where a stretch of beach spans for 50 kilometers along this coastal area. The sandy beach makes a romantic place to watch a sunset take over the New Zealand sky or a prime location for a photographer to set up and watch the sunset display its beauty.
Approximately 2,000 permanent residents live in Muriwai Beach, a small community near Auckland, along with yearly visitors of about 2,400 nesting Australasian Gannets. Between August and March, many tourists travel to Muriwai Beach to admire these birds soaring above the Tasman Sea and to watch the amazing sunsets decorate the sky.
