Looking across the scenic landscape from the skifield on Mt. Ruapehu, the peak of Mt. Ngauruhoe, an active volcano in Tongariro National Park in NZ, is highlighted in the sunlight. During the summer months, skiing is non-existent but when winter comes, these peaks are some of the best throughout New Zealand.
The slopes on Mt. Ruapehu vary in hardness during the winter with excellent runs laid out for beginners, intermediate and advance skiers as well as for snowboarders, tobogganers and tubers. Summer leaves the landscape in Tongariro National Park barren where visitors can hike across the volcanic landscape and explore Mt. Ngauruhoe.
