The highest mountain peak in New Zealand is that of Mount Cook (Aokari) and on this summer day, the clouds encompass the lower lying levels but the tallest peaks manage to break through. Mount Cook reaches 12,316 feet and it is a mountain easily recognized due to its unique shape.
Surrounding Mount Cook are the Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers which are reachable by foot or take a helicopter sightseeing tour and see the entire region from above. Westland National Park in New Zealand borders Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and from either one, the scenic views of Mount Cook are spectacular.
