The coastal shores of Maitai Bay on the Karikari Peninsula in Northland, is a pristine region of NZ where people come to enjoy the summer sun and frolic on the sandy beach. The turquoise colored water moves quietly into Maitai Bay as boaters anchor in the center amongst the tranquility of the area.
The jagged rocks which extend off the sandy beach create the perfect setting for visitors who come here to snorkel in the warm, clear bay. Others prefer to swim, tan or simply stroll along the white sandy beach barefooted and feel the warmth of the sand beneath their feet.
Besides the beautiful scenery of Maitai Bay and the summer beach activities, the shoreline is filled with various species of plant life, the prettiest being the Pohutukawa trees which blossom in bright red hues. Maitai Bay is a very clean and peaceful paradise which attracts many tourists during the summer months.
