Frequently seen around the coastline of New Zealand, the little blue penguin gets its name because it is the smallest penguin in the world - reaching a maximum height of around 43cm and weighing only one kilogram. In New Zealand it is known either as Little Blue Penguin or simply Blue Penguin and in Australia is it known as a Fairy Penguin.
