Russell Lupins are colorful wildflowers which blossom along the shores of Lake Tekapo in Canterbury on the South Island of NZ during the summer months. The landscape comes alive in pink and purple hues while the unique color of the lake sparkles in the lighting as a blanket of clouds lingers over the mountain tops.
Growing to a height of about 1.5 meters, clusters of Russell Lupins scatter themselves around Lake Tekapo. Atop the large spikes, the flowers are displayed in whorls on racemes, some being 60 centimeters long. A majority of the Russell Lupins around Lake Tekapo are pink and purple, but they can also be seen elsewhere in blue, orange, red, white and yellow hues.
