One of the two main lakes in the Nelson Lakes National Park, Lake Rotoiti occupies what was once a basin gouged out by glaciers and filled with water.
Today Lake Rotoiti is a popular recreational lake where visitors can enjoy anything from day hikes, short trails, boating, skiing, fishing, yachting or just relaxing on the shores.
