Visitors to the North Island of New Zealand wanting to explore one of the natural wonders of the world, Orakei Korako, must take the passenger ferry across Lake Ohakuri. This ferry is on call to transfer people back and forth to this spectacular thermal area.
When the ferry arrives at Orakei Korako after the scenic ride across Lake Ohakuri, visitors can disembark and explore the landscape once known as a home to the Maori people. After 1886, a majority of the people had abandoned the valley but it was not until 1937 that this amazing geographical landscape was opened to the public.
An amazing world where hot springs, geysers, caves, mud pools and sinter terraces make up the region. After a day of adventure, board the ferry boat back across Lake Ohakuri and leave the memorable experience of Orakei Koraki in the distance.
