Acres of farmland adorn the banks of Lake Hawea in Central Otago, New Zealand where farmers send their flocks of sheep to spend the warm summer days grazing in the pastures. Rolling hills give the sheep plenty of room to roam and there are numerous lakeside areas where farmlands are present.
The sheep are not the only visitors to Lake Hawea during the summer as people have found this to be a popular holiday location. Lake Hawea is a long narrow, glacial lake with a beautiful blue coloring to it. Vacationers spend the long, hot summer days tanning on the beaches, boating or fishing in the depths of the lake which reach 392 metres in one area.
