Erected on a rockery base, a large slice of a kiwi fruit makes up the sign to Kiwi360, previously named Kiwifruit Country in the Bay of Plenty on the North Island of New Zealand. The bright green hue of the sign is hard to miss as you enter Kiwi360, a place which takes visitors into the history of the kiwifruit and how it became so popular.
Kiwi360 was established in 1987 and is owned by an association of Maori Kiwifruit Orchard trusts, all which represent various tribes from Tauranga Moana. These people have owned the land Kiwi360 resides on for hundreds of years. This land has the ideal geological conditions and perfect weather for the kiwi to grow and is known to be the best location in the world for producing kiwifruit.
After passing the sign, a world of knowledge is open to visitors who can tour through the lush kiwi orchards learning the techniques of kiwifruit growing. After a fun filled tour, visitors can have a bite to eat in the Kiwi360 cafe and then visit the gift shop which has a display of unique items.
New Zealand is the Kiwifruit capital of the world and a trip to the Bay of Plenty on the North Island is not complete without visiting this extraordinary place.
