The Stone Store which decorates the banks of the Kerikeri River in Northland on the North Island of NZ has stood in its current location since the construction began in 1832. The building took almost four years to be built and was originally used as a storehouse for the mission.
The mission closed in 1848 and ownership was taken over by the Kemp family which they leased to various store keepers until 1976 when the NZ Historic Places Trust bought it out. Major repairs were needed and it was not until 1998 that this historic building reopened to the public to explore. The Stone Store is the oldest stone building in NZ along with the Kemp House which is the oldest European building, both which stand along the Kerikeri River.
