Set onto a pole in the center of a bed of rocks, stands a large Brown Trout sculpture, a mascot to the town of Gore in Southland, New Zealand as it is the world capital of Brown Trout. The best time of year to fish for the trout is between October and April, a freshwater fish attracted to various types of bait.
To the right of the trout sculpture is the welcome sign to the town of Gore, all of which is set into a park like setting. This is a pretty town with spectacular beauty and many different places which attracts visitors who are not here to fish for the Brown Trout.
The trees around the trout sculpture and the welcome sign are flourishing in their summer hues as a visitor to the town of Gore relaxes on the bench enjoying the tranquility. Gore is a destination which should be seen by anyone visiting Southland, New Zealand.
