The scenic coastline of Gore Bay near the town of Cheviot in Canterbury, New Zealand brings out many surfers as the swells are fairly continuous throughout the year except during summer. This is when the ocean remains calmer and people come to enjoy the beach, one which never becomes overly crowded.
Gore Bay is mainly a vacation getaway for people as the town only has about 14 permanent residents, the rest of the homes are used during the summer. Kitesurfers and windsurfers often venture to this beach while others enjoy the scenic views from above enroute to Kaikoura.
