Goat Island Marine Reserve near Leigh in Northland, New Zealand was first created in 1975, but the official opening date was not until 1977. Diving groups are brought here to explore the undersea world, but for those who prefer to stay dry, the glass bottom boat will tour visitors around the marine reserve to watch the fish from above and view the caves around Goat Island.
An assortment of sea life lives in and around Goat Island such as various types of fish which people can snorkel with making an exciting adventure for all age groups. The best time to visit the Goat Island Marine Reserve is on a sunny day when there is hardly any breeze blowing through the area.
