Tranquility surrounds the beautiful coastal shores of Gillespies Beach near the Fox Glacier in Westland, New Zealand except for the sound of the crashing waves and the beauty of a glowing sunset. The rocks and black sand along the beach glisten in the lighting at sunset as the waves of the Tasman Sea break and slowly work their way further up the shore.
This region of New Zealand is encompassed by glaciers and rainforest and was created over 14,000 years ago. Trails near Gillespies Beach will take visitors along the coastal shores to a fur seal colony, about a four hour round trip on foot.
