While visiting the town of Clyde in Central Otago, NZ, the main street is filled with historic buildings, this one being a heritage hotel built in 1863. The hotel is known as the Dunstan House and is the ideal place to rest one's head for a night or two after dining in the restaurant and enjoying the living entertainment.
Up until 1937, the Dunstan House provided shelter for the miners and settlers who came to the town of Clyde. When the Gold Rush came to an end, the hotel was nearly abandoned and it was forced to close its doors. Remaining this way until 1968, partial restorations were done to the historic building and an antique store was opened and backpackers traveling through NZ used it as a stop over.
Eventually, further restorations were done to the Dunstan Hotel and today, visitors can enjoy the beautiful ambiance, comfortable rooms, a large veranda to relax on and the friendly staff. Centered in the town of Clyde, NZ, the Dunstan Hotel is close to all the attractions in this historic region.
