An intriguing city with diverse culture, architecture and history. Although human occupation dates back to 1100 AD by the maori, Dunedin was first founded in 1848 by the Lay Association of the Free Church of Scotland. The city is often referred to as the Edinburgh of the south.
Dunedin sits at the end of the Otago Harbour which is protected by the Otago Peninsula which struts out into the Pacific Ocean. The hills surrounding the city of Dunedin are remnants of a volcanic crater.
