After fishing all day in the waters off the East Coast of the South Island of New Zealand, a Yellow-eyed Penguin starts his trek over the Fossil Forest at Curio Bay towards its home. The Yellow-eyed Penguin is one of the world's rarest species of penguin and they come to Curio Bay to nest in the forest and scrubland along the coastal shores.
With its pink feet waddling across the Fossil Forest, the Yellow-eyed Penguin is also very unique with its pink beak, pale yellow coloring on its head and distinct yellow eyes. Visitors can view these penguins from hidden locations such as trenches and tunnels as the penguins make their way across the rough terrain of ancient tree stumps. A very shy animal, the Yellow-eyed Penguin is leery of any strange events or unusual sounds.
