The Champagne Pool at the Wai-o-tapu Scenic Reserve in Rotorua, NZ shows off its thermal energy as it steams and bubbles amongst the colorful edges of the pool.

The mineral deposits in the Champagne Pool at the Wai-o-tapu Scenic Reserve in Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty, NZ, creates the colorful orange hues around the edges of the water. Spanning a 2,000 square meter area, the pool bubbles and steams continuously producing a rush of thermal energy.

This hydro thermal crater was created 900 years ago and today, the Champagne Pool reaches a farenheit of between 158-167 degrees. The bubbles across the surface of the pool are visible throughout the steam, a similar resemblance to a glass of champagne, hence the name "Champagne Pool".
