The bright yellow glow at sunset over the coastal regions of Northland, New Zealand is breathtaking when watching from Cape Reinga. The lighting highlights the grassy hillsides above Te Werahi Beach which runs along the coastline as the water in Cape Maria gently laps up onto the shore.

These waters have seen many shipwrecks over the years which eventually led to a lighthouse being placed on Motuopao Island, but that became a problem and it was later moved to Cape Reinga. For those who prefer dry land, the trails which make up the Cape Reinga Coastal Walkway are extremely scenic especially during the sunset hours.
