The small historic town of Clyde in Central Otago on the South Island of New Zealand is very unique with its quaint shops and cafes situated along the main street. Wooden tables and chairs sit along the sidewalks outside the shops with large planters filled with vibrant colored flowers and plants.
Back in the 1800's during the gold rush, many Europeans who came to New Zealand laid down their roots here and many of the historic buildings from this time period still exist. Today, visitors will find 2 general shops, a community hall, a swimming pool, museums, restaurants, cafes and churches with the two main attractions being Lake Dunstan and the Clyde Dam.
