The solitaire Chacma Baboon at the Auckland Zoo on the North Island of New Zealand sits peacefully in the shade with his arms nicely crossed as he watches visitors watching him. This Chacma Baboon goes by the name of Tony where he scurries about his habitat, a replica of his wilderness regions like the African woodland savannah and high grasslands.
This mammal can live to be about 45 years of age and it is one of the heaviest and largest of the baboon species. With its long, pointed face looking very intrigued at the events happening around him, the Chacma Baboon will take a break for meals where it feeds on fruits, insects and seeds. In the wild they can also be found feeding on smaller typed vertebrate animals.
While watching the Chacma Baboon at the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand, pay close attention to how much this animal resembles many of the movements a human makes. This picture is a prime example of human behavior.
