Erosion has created the formations of the Cathedral Cliffs which are situated near Gore Bay on the South Island of New Zealand.

A little patch of badlands marks the location of the Cathedral Cliffs which receive their name from their organ shaped formations.

There is only one place to view the Cathedral Cliffs and that is by turning off State Highway 1 at the town of Cheviot or turning off at Domet and taking the Cathedrals Road. From Dommet the Cathedral Cliffs are a little before the town of Gore Bay and not too well signposted on the windy road.
