A thin blanket of clouds span across the sky at Cape Reinga in Northland, New Zealand as the sunset lighting filters from across the horizon altering their color into a beautiful pink hue. The surface of the water radiates a pink glow while the waves crash against the rugged coastal shores below the Cape Reinga Lighthouse.
Situated on the top of the cliff at 165 metres above sea level, the lighthouse has watched over these waters since 1941, often a treacherous place for vessels as this is where the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean meet. Cape Reinga is also a location which is known as a special spiritual place where legends have been formed by the Maori people.
