The white foam of the breaking waves at the base of the sandstone cliffs and the mixture of colors in the water along the coastline at Cape Kidnappers in New Zealand is beautiful from atop the high ledges at the Australasian Gannet Colony.
On the side of the cliff in the foreground, which leads up to the Australasian Gannet Colony, a trail is etched into the landscape making it easier for visitors to hike their way up to watch this fascinating bird colony at their nesting grounds. The gannets will soar above the landscape and suddenly make fast dives into water to pick out their next meal for themselves and their chicks. Once you reach the top, not only are the gannets amazing to watch, but the scenery is breathtaking.
