An extraordinary way to cross the Buller River on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand is by taking the cometline, another option is the swingbridge. A woman has been harnessed, connected and attached to the cable where she is sent sailing across the Buller River until reaching the opposite side of the gorge.
Once across the river, there are various loop walks to explore the beauty of the New Zealand wilderness. The swingbridge across the Buller River is the longest one found throughout New Zealand but it takes a fair bit longer to cross the gorge than by taking the cometline. The swingbridge is 110 meters in length while the cometline is 160 meters.
This is definitely an exhilarating journey while on the South Island of New Zealand, one which should be tried at least once. For those looking for a little more thrill while crossing the Buller River, going tandem on the cometline increases the speed.
