Standing proudly on a large rock overlooking Lake Tekapo in Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand, is a bronze statue of a Collie Sheep Dog.

As the sun glistens down onto Lake Tekapo in Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand, it also reflects off the bronze statue of a Collie Sheep Dog erected on a large boulder along the lake shore. The Collie Sheep Dog statue was placed here on March 7th in 1968 and reminds people of how hard these animals worked on the farms in the Mackenzie County in New Zealand.

Without the help of these dogs on the farms, the mountainous countryside would have been impossible to keep in its entirety. During the 19th century, Scottish shepherds arrived on the eastern side of the South Island with their dogs which was the onset to the farming in Canterbury, New Zealand.

This statue is one which is photographed regularly when people come to Lake Tekapo on the South Island of New Zealand.
