A flag marks a hole on the nine hole golf course at the Bayview Chateau Tongariro in the village of Whakapapa in Tongariro National Park in New Zealand as the scenery of active volcanoes decorates the backdrop. This golf course is the highest one throughout New Zealand with beautifully manicured greens and fairways.
While staying at the Bayview Chateau Tongariro, the golf course is very near the entrance to the hotel, making it very difficult for avid golfers not to play a quick nine before exploring Tongariro National Park. Of the nine holes, there are three which display stunning scenic views of the volcanoes.
After nine holes, people can return to the hotel and enjoy the luxurious surroundings and pleasant atmosphere or hike amongst the wilderness of the park.
