From atop the cliffs in Punakaiki on the South Island of New Zealand, visitors can overlook the scenery of the Pancake Rocks as the Tasman Sea thrashes against the unique rock formations. Every day, the Tasman Sea alters the beauty of the Pancake Rocks as it erodes the layers of limestone creating channels for the sea to force its way through. The sprays emerging from these gaps can be amazing to watch when the Tasman Sea shows off its fury and produces thundering sounds from beneath the rock formations.
Punakaiki is a small town on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand and many tourists visit the area to see the famous Pancake Rocks. To explore the Pancake Rocks, visitors can either enjoy the beauty from above or take any one of the walkways which wind through the rocks, a few of them being wheelchair accessible.
