Standing across the Tasman Sea on the farming landscape overlooking the scenery of Mt. Taranaki/Mt Egmont at sunset is a sight which is hard to miss while visiting the Northern Taranaki Bight on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The volcanic mountain rises 2,518 meters into the yellow glow of the sunset lighting, towering above the jetty which extends into the calm waters of the Tasman Sea.
Mt. Taranaki/Mt Egmont has a cone peak and is the second highest mountain on the North Island of New Zealand. Located in Egmont National Park which covers an area of about 335 square miles, Mt. Taranaki/Mt. Egmont is one of the prettiest sights on the North Island.
Skiing is spectacular atop Mt. Taranaki/Mt Egmont during the winter and the summer months attract many people who enjoy mountain climbing throughout the rainforest until reaching places where the scenery of New Zealand is highlighted.
