On either side of McLean Falls, the Native NZ wilderness shows off its greenery as the water rushes over the various tiers of rocks, the largest drop being in the background which is approximately 20 meters high. Visitors to McLean Falls must follow the Southern Scenic Route in Southland, NZ and trek along the Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail, a fairly easy walk on an uphill slant, to see this beautiful waterfall.
Along the Catlins Coastal Heritage Trail there are footbridges and boardwalks to help keep one's feet dry and at the end, the McLean Falls is worth the 15 minute walk. The sound of the rushing water, the native trees and the birds singing is part of the beauty of the trail before approaching the falls.
McLean Falls is a favorite stop for many tourists traveling along the Southern Scenic Route in Southland, NZ.
