Many of the local fisherman of Mangonui in Northland, New Zealand spend their summer days sitting on the wharf under the warmth of the sun casting their fishing lines as commercial fishing boats prepare to head out to sea. The small town of Mangonui still relies on fishing as a main source of income for many of the locals, while others enjoy fishing as a favorite past time.
Mangonui, New Zealand was once a location for kauri trade and today it still has many of the historic buildings situated around the town. One of the best fish and chip eateries is located in Mangonui along with excellent accommodations suitable for any type of traveler.
The scenery from the wharf is beautiful where the town lies along the coast of Doubtless Bay, New Zealand. There are four resorts, Taipa, Cable Bay, Cooper's Beach and Mangonui, all which are relatively close together having a combined population of about 1,600. A peaceful summer destination where fishing from the wharf is all that is needed for a day of relaxation.
